Wantage Independent Advice Centre

The Wantage Independent Advice Centre (WIAC) would like to thank Faringdon Town Council for the £1,500 grant provided for the financial year 2015-2016.

The funding contributes to the provision of the services across all three of the WIAC work-streams: Advice Service, Transport and the Good Neighbour Scheme.

Since November the WIAC has been working closely with the Town Council to develop and propose a more comprehensive & established outreach programme for the Faringdon community.  This outreach programme will be coupled with the WIAC’s Transport service thus providing enhanced access to the Centre in Wantage.  The programme will also deliver training to the Pump House team in April/May 2016 which will enable the appropriate, specialist advisor from the WIAC to visit the Pump House to meet face to face with the client for a scheduled appointment.

Statistics and figures for the financial year ending March 31st 2016 are in the process of being produced.  The collation, analysis and comprehension exercise will be taking place over the next few weeks and the results will then be published in the WIAC’s annual report and shared at the AGM in late June.  In the meantime, if there are any specific questions with regard to the statistics and trends, these should be submitted to the Operations Management team at the WIAC for appropriate consideration and response.

The WIAC is exploring the idea of a Faringdon representative within its Management Committee; the WIAC would be open to this being as a Guest or as a Trustee of the organisation, as this would only strengthen the relationship and understanding.

On one final note, the WIAC would welcome volunteers from the Faringdon Community to join our teams in one or even all three of our service areas.  It is possible to make a difference with even the smallest amount of time and particularly in the Transport and Good Neighbour areas the level of flexibility is considerable. Please don’t hesitate to ask for more information or pop in for a chat about the volunteering opportunities.
